Thunder Goddess. River Fairy. Daughter of the Protected One.
Thordis Elva's name, translated literally and it fits her. What a force of nature. What a grounded and wise soul. It was a true privilege to hear her story and glimpse the strength it took to tell it. Long before they even knew the words for it, Thordis and the teenage boy who sexually assaulted her were guiding each other toward a restorative justice encounter. Proof (to us) that healing from harm together is in our bones, our DNA, the natural way humans would choose if given the chance.
South of Forgiveness is an unprecedented collaboration between a survivor and the one who harmed her, each equally committed to exploring the darkest moment of their lives. It is a true story about being bent but not broken, facing fear with courage, and finding hope even in the most wounded of places. Looking forward to next month when we can hear her speak on our podcast. Her book is available on Amazon, and their TedTalk has almost 6.5 million views.
